A Journey of Excellence

From humble beginnings to a thriving institution, Olderkesi Senior School's journey reflects resilience, growth, and a commitment to shaping future leaders.

2016

Foundation

Olderkesi Secondary School was established with just 93 students, 5 teachers, and 4 classrooms. The staff room was a luxury — teachers resorted to taking tea under a tree and in the open. The first administration block served as the principal's office, staffroom, and bursar's office. "Kweli Mungu ametutoa mbali!"

2017-2018

Early Growth

The first pioneer class (2016-2019) began their journey. The first teaching staff included Sena, Mr. Yenko, Mr. Maitai, Mr. Lenkume, Mr. Sairowua, Mr. Mayiani, and Mr. Reyia. The vision bearer, Mzee Sayialel, laid the foundation for a legacy that would outlive him and change generations.

2019

First KCSE Cohort

The pioneer class sat their first KCSE examination with 90 candidates, achieving a mean score of 4.52 and 5 direct university entries. The first graduation ceremony was held, and top students received their awards. The Principal was accompanied by the first Governor of Narok, His Excellency Hon. Samuel Tunai, on an official function.

2020

Academic Breakthrough

A major leap in performance: 93 candidates achieved a mean score of 7.13 with 85 direct university entries. The school began nurturing talents through Sunday services, sports, and co-curricular activities. Proverbs 22:6 — "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

2021

Excellence Recognized

133 candidates sat KCSE, achieving a mean score of 7.72 with 117 direct university entries. The school was awarded at the County Academic Educational Day for Agriculture, posting a mean of 11.5 out of 12 points. Collections of trophies accumulated in both academics and extra-curriculum. Teachers were treated to a motivational trip to Mombasa (2022) courtesy of Mzee Sayialel.

2022

Expanding Impact

158 candidates sat KCSE with a mean score of 6.8 and 98 direct university entries. Student leaders began receiving mentorship from national leaders including Hon. Ledama Ole Kina and Hon. Gabriel Tong'oyo. The school strengthened its prefects' mentorship programme and community outreach initiatives.

2023

Record Performance

212 candidates achieved a mean score of 7.87 with 117 direct university entries. The school continued to give back to society through charitable work, supporting needy students with fees and learning materials. Students and staff received blessings from elders after charity work. Galatians 6:9 — "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

2024

Highest Mean Score

The school's best KCSE performance yet: 263 candidates achieved a mean score of 8.02 with 256 direct university entries. This was the highest mean score in the school's history. The success story of former students turned teachers — Mr. Parkesui and Mr. Lepore — inspired the current generation. Miss Becky Kipees, a former student, became a Bachelor's degree holder in Education.

2025

308 University Entries

319 candidates achieved a mean score of 7.8 with an unprecedented 308 direct university entries — the highest number of students sent to university in a single year. The seventh graduation ceremony was held. The team that achieved this milestone was celebrated by parents with a luncheon at Mara Napa. Total university placements since 2019 reached 1,052 students.

2026

10th Anniversary

Olderkesi Senior School celebrates its 10th anniversary with 1,313 students, 50 staff, 18 classrooms, 3 laboratories, and 6 dormitories. The school has produced over 1,000 university graduates and continues to transform lives. The Strategic Plan 2026-2036 envisions modern staff houses, digital classrooms, a dairy farm, school bakery, and biometric systems. "This is only the beginning. The next 10 years will be even bolder."

Principal Mzee Sayialel

A Decade of Transforming Futures

"My sons and daughters, look at the photos you just saw. Those aren't strangers on a screen. They sat right where you are sitting now, worried about exams, surviving the long assemblies, and wondering if it would all be worth it. Ten years later, they're teachers, professionals, leaders. They proved that what you do here matters.

When I look at our former students — some with us here today as teachers — I see what is possible for each one of you. They sat in the same classrooms, faced the same challenges, and chose to work hard, stayed focused, and believed in themselves. Olderkesi supported them, but they built their future with their own effort. Your story can be the next one we celebrate. Dream big, work hard, and never doubt that this school believes in you.

May God Bless you all! Happy Tenth Anniversary!"

Mzee Sayialel Principal & Vision Bearer "Not just a principal, but Dear Dad — many just call him Mzee."

Message from the Board

As we celebrate this 10th Anniversary, as a board, we have watched Olderkesi grow from a vision into a place where futures are built. The 1,052 students who have gone on to university, and the thousands more shaped here, are proof of what happens when commitment meets opportunity.

To our students: Keep aiming higher.
To our teachers and staff: Thank you for making excellence the standard.
To our community: Thank you for trusting us with your children.

"This is only the beginning. The next 10 years will be even bolder."
